Loan of Collection Material

Requests for loans of collection items and for the extension of loans should be made in writing (including e-mail) to the director and curator. Loans are usually made to institutions, not to individuals. A permanent research associate of the institution must take responsibility for the loan in every case. This applies in particular to loans to graduate candidates where the academic supervisor signs the loan as the person responsible. Further details can be found in the loan agreement to be signed before the loan. In any case, the decision as to whether to borrow items from the collection is the responsibility of the Director of the Collection. In compliance with the guidelines for the sustainable storage of research data as requested by funding bodies, the analysis of archaeofaunas stored in the SPM can only be permitted if the data is recorded in OssoBook.

Fragile, valuable or rare specimens are usually not out for loan.
